- "For most conspicuous and consistent bravery. On
the evening of June 17, several pilots from the RFC 101 Squadron were in a combat patrol with First Lieutenant SpotC in
the southern region of Flanders. Upon nearing the town of Albert,
Lieutenant SpotC observed an aerodrome under attack by no less than
three Jasta 18 aeroplanes. The patrol dived on the attackers, and before
another plane was close enough to engage, Lt. SpotC single-handedly
downed the three aircraft. In only two missions that day, Lt. SpotC
downed a total of 18 enemy aeroplanes."
