Chevelle's Maiden Flight

It was late in the 2001 Red Baron World League war.  The Black Adders were intensely battling their way up in the standings.  Chevelle, a humble Warrant Officer bomber pilot, joined the squadron.  Little did anyone know just how fateful that day would be.

C.O. WingNut fills us in on the thrill and excitement of what we can expect for our next Red Baron World League battle. WingNut

The battle is initially going very well. An enemy bridge is destroyed and WingNut asks, "Hey Duck! Did you knock out that bridge?" Duck

The battle rages on and there are losses on both sides. JBird's plane is hit and he starts to go down! There's no message from him! The C.O asks, "What happened?  Is he all right?  Did he get hit?"  Icewolf give him the bad news. IceWolf

The C.O. inquires as to why JBird didn't get any support. WingNut

Meanwhile, Tinkerbelle and Chevelle are after the same target. She takes down most of the bridge but it's Chevelle's one bomb that drops it. Uh oh. Has Chevelle vulched for the first time?  He tries to make amends. Chevelle

But Bombing Flight Leader GhostRider is not happy with two planes going after the same bridge. GhostRider

Things are really beginning to heat up. Chevelle and KenP are pinned down at a drome. Two enemy planes are circling, ready to pick off anyone taking off. Uh Oh

KenP valiantly takes off and engages the enemy but Chevelle feels that discretion is the better part of valor and he stays put. This does not meet with KenP's satisfaction. KenP

KenP is quite insistent that Chevelle join the fracas. Chevelle reluctantly obliges and promptly finds himself in a head on duel with an enemy plane. There is a collision! Chevelle's undercarraige strikes the enemy's upper wing. Chevelle

KenP is somewhat miffed at the ineffectiveness of his inexperience first-time partner. KenP

Reaper has been circling overhead and watching the chat scroll as it records the carnage below. Reaper

But all's well that ends well. The Black Adders emerge victorious. It's an upbeat, positive, joyful time in the debriefing room.  Later, in the Pub, Chevelle and KenP calmly discuss the events that occurred at the end of the match. (Discussion)

Like all good squadrons, there are lessons to be learned, even from a victorious battle. Chevelle offers his suggestions on strategy and tactics. The reception is some what cool. Daze asks the C.O. what his opinion is of Chevelle's ideas. WingNut

But all the views are not dissenting. IceWolf has a more positive opinion. IceWolf

KenP is still not impressed. He is quite confident about his experience and feels that he is a member that the others can learn from. KenP
